The Hustle is Personal – Lagos Will Not Clap for You

by Oluwatomisin Akintayo Fasola

Lagos is loud.
But not for you.
Unless you're already made.

In this city, you could be bleeding brilliance, building dreams out of dust, and still—nobody will notice.
You could be pushing every day, eyes sunken, wallet flat, spirit stretched thin—and still, not a single round of applause.

That’s because Lagos is not designed to clap for you until you win.
And even then, it’ll ask "who’s your daddy?" or "what’s your plug?"

So here's the truth: The hustle is personal.

You have to keep showing up—on days you feel invisible, on days when your work doesn't trend, and on days when even your own voice whispers “maybe this isn’t working.”

Because what you're building is bigger than validation.
Because legacy doesn’t come with likes.
Because the boys on the street who greet you every morning are watching—more than the timeline.

Don’t wait for Lagos to cheer. It won’t.
Not until the ribbon is cut.
Not until the shop is opened.
Not until your name rings and the work is undeniable.

So this is for the quiet builders.
The early risers.
The ones still bootstrapping dreams with no backers, no likes, no claps.

Keep going.
Even if the city is quiet, your grind is speaking volumes.

📝 This week, remind yourself: No bad week. Just one more chance to build something unforgettable.
