Blessing In The Covenant
Early the next morning Abraham took some food and a skin of water and gave them to Hagar. He set them on her shoulders and then sent her off with the boy… Then she went off and sat down about a bowshot away, for she thought, “I cannot watch the boy die.” …God heard the boy crying, and the angel of God called to Hagar from heaven and said to her, “What is the matter, Hagar? Do not be afraid; God has heard the boy crying as he lies there.
- Genesis 21:14-17 (NIV)

Certain death seemed to loom over Hagar’s baby. She had done all she could do and now had resigned herself to fate. Everything pointed towards the finality and permanent hopelessness of the situation…everything except COVENANT!

Ishmael may have been the “illegitimate” son, but he was nonetheless the son of Abraham. This relationship automatically gave him certain privileges with God. Notice that though the bible records Hagar as crying in anguish, it testifies that the person heard was the child! COVENANT!

Dear friend, a covenant relationship with Jesus is one of the factors that grant us accessinto definite miracles!

Are you a sincere follower of Christ? Then be of good cheer, your voice like this child is being heard and divine intervention will meet you in good time, so do not fret. Expect your miracle.

Are you outside the covenant? It is not the best of places to be. Like the wilderness where Hagar found herself, it is lonely, dangerous and harsh. There is a better place in Christ. Yield to it and see if miracles are real or not.

Do not forget that both Hagar and her baby were in the wilderness. Both cried but God heard the child only all by the power of a covenant between God and Abraham (Genesis 21:13 I will make the son of the maidservant into a nation also, because he is your offspring.").

Miracles always answer to covenants and it will answer to the one between the LORD Jesus and You!
